Hasbro’s 2011 4th Quarter Earnings Conference Call was held just moments ago. We at TFW2005 joined the call with Hasbro to know what’s heading our way in 2012.

Most of the information was regarding financial matters and information which most of you already may know. But, it was interesting to know what’s going on behind-the-scenes.

Hasbro mentioned few tidbits of what they have planned to do in 2012 and mentioned that there will be “New Characters” introduced for Transformers. This was said immediately after Hasbro’s CEO Bryan Goldner mentioning Transformers: Prime and therefore it is safe to assume that these new characters were regarding Transformers: Prime.

Hasbro CEO Bryan Goldner was the first to speak after he was introduced byDebbie Hancock;Hasbro’s Vice President of Investor Relations.

• Started off by mentioning that Hasbro didn’t do well inUSandCanadain 2011. This was mentioned later in the speech as well.
• Growing in Latin America and Asia in 2012.
• Hasbro was the “Fastest Growing Toy Company” inWestern Europein 2011.
• Transformers toys managed to grabUS$ 483 million in revenuein 2011. [Holy Cow!]
• Kre-O generated millions of dollars and is expanding in 2012 to 15 more countries.
• US and Canada markets declined in 2011. Thinking of doing more for the US and Canada markets in 2012.
• Toy Fair 2012 will unveil new games. [Not sure what he meant but he mentioned Digital Games. Must be The MMOs and Fall of Cybertron].
• Boys category grew by 35% in 2011.
• Transformers saw a 85% growth. Transformers: Dark of the Moo nmovie was mentioned for its success.
• Transformers: Prime is airing worldwide. New characters introduced in 2012.
• Transformers Digital Games releasing.
• Transformers Television Initiatives will continue in 2012.
• Transformers: Rescue Botspremiering February 18th on the Hub.
• Await awesome stuff at Toy Fair 2012.

In other news:

• G. I. Joe: Retaliationwill release this year byParamount.
• Stretch Armstrongon April 11, 2014 by Relativity Media. This is the return of Stretch Armstrong in 14 years.
• Candy LandbySonyandAdam Sandler's production companyHappy Madison Productions.
• Universal’s Battleshipthis year.

Debbie Hancock was the next to speak and she mostly talked about things from their latest Press Release regarding the revenues from 2011. She mentioned that Hub is still making a loss but the loss is not as large as was on 2010.

Q&A Session was started immediately after Debbie’s speech.

What’s going on after Transformers Live Action Movie?

• Bryan did NOT mention a newTransformers Live Action Movie.
• People will see good stuff with G. I. Joe: Retaliation,Amazing Spider-ManandMarvel’s The Avengers.
• Also added that Transformers: Prime will be taking over to fill the void of lack of a Transformers Live Action Movie. Mentioned that it’s always a trend that a Television Transformers Show will take over the gap between movies. However, not a single word was mentioned regarding another Transformers Movie despite mentioning of one in the 3rd Quarter Conference Call.
• Thinking of doing what can be done to fix the lack of a Motion Picture.
• Transformers Live Action Movies raked-in nearly US$ 3 Billion.
• Hasbro can’t financially support a Motion Picture so they are making partnership with major production companies such as Paramount and Universal.

Una forma de mejorar las ganacias es rebajar los costos y por lo q se ve desde Animated Hasbro la tiene claro.

Problem Fans?

• Growing in Latin America and Asia in 2012. (Esperemos q esto sea positivo..)
• Kre-O generated millions of dollars and is expanding in 2012 to 15 more countries. (generó millones y solo vendiendose en norte america y parte de asia... vaya)
• Transformers saw a 85% growth. Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie was mentioned for its success. (ese 85% de que? de imagen? de mercado?, de ganancias?...igual de lo q sea un 85% es abrumador)

Bueno, esto significa que tenemos Hasbro para rato.
Ojalá este crecimiento se vea reflejado en mejores productos (aunque no me cortaré las venas si una figura no me agrada, sencillamente pasaré de ella hasta la próxima); y espero también que se cumplan las expectativas de crecimiento para quienes estamos en América Latina.

Lo que me preocupa es que mencionan el regreso de Stretch Armstrong, pero nada de los regresos de Action Man y MASK que todos veíamos venir ¿se habrán arrepentido? Al menos no dejaremos de tener Transformers, Joes y Avengers (la que debería tener, tal como las líneas del Latoso y del Capi, figuras de la peli y del comic, pero también de la serie animada porque todavía no veo ninguna figura de ésa).
