Roland Emmerich is evidently eager to do the film, but I hear he’s about to get shut out in favor of Michael Bay. If I was a betting man, I’d put my money on Bay. Word is that Dreamworks is mighty happy with THE ISLAND, and they want to reward Bay by handing over a franchise they see as a major priority at the studio. Tom DeSanto and Don Murphy are both attached to produce the film, and they’re currently supervising a rewrite of the John Rogers script by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who wrote THE ISLAND and who are best known for their work on ALIAS.

Me encanta Michael Bay, todas sus películas me han gustado. Ciertamente no son grandes películas con argumentos increibles pero el tipo sabe hacer los mejores encuadres y escenas del cine. Pocas películas he visto que consigan superar o igualar el manejo de la cámara de Michael Bay.

Pues a mí Michael Bay.... Mejor me callo, es mejor no decir nada si no vas a decir nada bueno. The Rock, Armaggedon, Pearl Harbour... sí, su currículum ya lo dice todo. Mmhhhh.... Vale, acabo de comprobarlo y he acertado: antes hacía vídeos musicales.

Solamente rezo a Buda, Jesús, Zeus y Satanás (por si acaso a todos) para que no elijan a ese personaje para Transformers. Mejor que dirija UPA: The Movie * y para lo nuestro escojan un director de verdad.

Don confirma el interes por contar con Michael Bay para la peli y otras publicaciones tb lo reseñan.

Michael Bay is looking to direct "The Transformers" for DreamWorks and Paramount. The live-action pic, which Steven Spielberg is exec producing, is skedded for a Thanksgiving 2006 release. Shooting will begin in the fall.
The project had been gestating at the studio until Spielberg came up with a new take, which he imparted to scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. (Pic's original script was by John Rogers.) Kurtzman and Orci built on the idea and pitched it to Bay, whom they worked with on DreamWorks' upcoming summer actioner "The Island," and he sparked to it. DreamWorks production prexy Adam Goodman's relationship with Bay was also instrumental in bringing about the deal.

Kurtzman and Orci are expected to turn in a script within a month, at which point DreamWorks is hoping to lock in Bay.

The Transformers spawned a comicbook series, TV show and animated feature in the 1980s and have a devout following among the retro set. This is Hollywood's first attempt to transform them to the live-action screen.Angry Films' Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto are producing along with Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Marc Haimes and John Fox are overseeing the pic for DreamWorks.

Through his Platinum Dunes banner, Bay is a producer on MGM's remake of "The Amityville Horror," due out this month.

Michael Bay is in talks to direct the DreamWorks/Paramount live-action adaptation of "The Transformers," Hasbro's popular 1980s toy line of giant robots that morph into cars, trucks, planes, ships and other technological creations.

The move would reteam the director with DreamWorks, which is handling domestic distribution on the movie. Bay is helming DreamWorks' upcoming summer release "The Island," a co-production with Warner Bros. Pictures.
Bay also would reteam with writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who -- under their two-year, first-look deal with DreamWorks -- rewrote "Island" and wrote "Transformers."

The Transformers are divided into two groups of robots, one led by Optimus Prime, which believes in tolerance and the sanctity of life, the other by Megatron, which espouses survival of the fittest and the extermination of biological life.

Angry Films topper Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto, who wrote the screen story, are producing the feature along with Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Steven Spielberg will executive produce.

John Rogers wrote the initial draft.

Marc Haimes and John Fox are overseeing for DreamWorks.

A Nov. 17, 2006, release date has been set.

Bay's credits include the two "Bad Boys" movies, "Pearl Harbor," "Armageddon" and "The Rock." He is repped by WMA.

Pues parece que IGN confirma a Michael Bay como director, afirmando el rumor aunque Don Murphy aún no haya confirmado nada en los foros. En cuanto diga algo seguro Don en sus foros hago el post:

April 06, 2005 - The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Michael Bay will helm the big-screen version of The Transformers. Although word of Bay's possible involvement leaked online over the weekend, he had been a rumored contender for the director's chair as far back as July 2003.


The project will reunite Bay with DreamWorks, the studio behind his next release, The Island. The screenwriters of that pic – Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman – are now revising the original Transformers draft by John Rogers'.

Producer Don Murphy, however, said on the message board of his official site that there is "no deal" finalized yet for Bay.

Bay's credits include Armageddon, The Rock, Pearl Harbor, and Bad Boys.

Transformers is slated for a Thanksgiving 2006 release.

Imagino que tendremos que esperar una cinta tipo Armageddon, o con escenas de peleas como Bad Boys.

Imdb es tan fiable como el método Ogino, pero me temo que todo apunta a Bay....

No me gusta un pelo. Uno de los máximos exponentes de que para rodar correctamente una escena de acción hay que contratar cámaras con Parkinson.
